California Apricots ~
A Gift to Good Health!
Scientifically known as Prunus Armenaica, the Apricot tree was originally found in China, made its way to Europe by way of Armenia and finally arrived at the Spanish missions of California circa 1792. Now primarily grown in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley, fresh California Apricots are irresistible, and their peak season is only about two months long, yielding an average crop size of 1.11 million pounds. Apricots are packed with nutrition and loaded with vitamin A and C, fiber and iron. One of the first stone fruits of the summer season, vibrant and sweet California Apricots are available beginning in late May through early July.
Jumbo, California-Grown,
Sun-Dried Apricots
It takes about six pounds of fresh Apricots to produce a pound of dried Apricot halves. That’s why dried apricots are such a concentrated source of flavor and important nutrients. Apricots must be fully tree ripened and hand picked before they are hand cut and sun dried. After about three days in the sun, the fruit is ready for washing, packing, and shipping. By specializing in sun dried California Apricots, we are able to extend the healthy and delicious Apricot season to all year round!
